He unexpectedly became Seattle’s starting left tackle later that season, and was projected to be the starter in 2017 before an ACL tear in preseason. Last season, Fant was often used as an extra offensive lineman and of course as a tackle-eligible receiver, a call-back to his days as a basketball player and TE at Western Kentucky. What does a second-round tender mean? It’s one-year for $3.095 million, and if another team submits an offer sheet that the Seahawks choose not to match, Seattle will be owed a second-round pick. Because Fant was undrafted, giving him the “original round tender” at $2.025 million would’ve meant that if another team snagged Fant, the Seahawks wouldn’t get a draft pick as compensation.Among the other moves made by the Seahawks on this first official day of the 2019 season, they’ve tendered all of their restricted free agents except fullback Tre Madden, and all of their exclusive rights free agents bar TJ Green, Tevon Mutcherson, and Ricky Ali’ifua.
